This Startup Has Graduated From The Garage!

For several years our founder, Pack, has rented a studio space in Orr Street Studios in the North Village Arts District in Columbia, Missouri. As a pianist, he used the space for composing and practicing, as well as a showroom for Soul Seats and Floor Desks. All inventory and assembling was still being housed in the garage at home.

This summer a larger studio space at Orr Street studios became available, and we decided to take it! The previous tenants (long-time Soul Seat users) were interested in downsizing, so it was the perfect opportunity for us to swap places!

The old studio was cozy and served its purpose as a small showroom and composing/creative space, but we can now do so much more with our new studio. At over twice the size, we now have ample room to run our business seamlessly. The back of the studio is where we store our inventory and assemble your shipments, while the front of the studio is our showroom and office space.

The best part of the new studio, however, is the raised cork flooring! Orr Street Studios has beautiful concrete floors, but it is not ideal for standing all day assembling Soul Seats. We had the pleasure of bringing on our friend and woodworker, Nick Spaeder, to consult and assist in laying the new floor. Floating above the concrete, we can now walk, stand, and sit comfortably on the buoyant floor. Our workspace is now in harmonious alignment with the Health By Design ideals and principles.

It is still a work in progress, but we are so excited to share it with you! Check out the photos below to see our process making the new space our own:
