I'm a yoga practitioner and tend to find comfort in sitting crossed legged, whether on the floor or in a chair, so this chair is exactly what I needed. I love having the option of sitting crossed legged or kneeling. The chair itself is rather comfortable and allows for you to adjustment the chair to you -- height from the base, height of the cushion directly beneath you, etc. Though the price tag may seem a bit hefty, I'm quite certain it will be worth it in the end, considering you can't put a price on spine health. It's all about being mindful, health conscious, and proactive.

I love the concept of the Soul Seat. I've been using this chair daily for sitting at my work computer, anywhere between two to five hours per day, for a couple of months. I love the flexibility it offers in seating positions, and the mobility it affords my arms and upper body. However, sitting on the perch becomes very uncomfortable for me way too quickly. Rather than return the chair, I replaced the perch with a crescent-shaped meditation cushion. This solved the problem of butt discomfort, while providing even more flexibility in seating positions by moving the cushion to the front or back of the platform. I was impressed with the quality of construction and materials, as well as how well it was packed for shipping. Overall, I'm happy with the chair and feel it's a good value for the price.
Yes, you may think it is a lot of money and you might need to wait a bit before it is ready to be shipped, but I feel it is worth the money and the wait. Since the pandemic hit I have been working from home, and was using an inexpensive, but comfortable-looking chair. I had no idea how expensive the ergonomic chair in my office at work had been, and next to that, my soul-seat doesn't seem so pricey! I like being able to change positions throughout the day, and feel that my posture is improving. Also, every step of the customer experience was very very positive. I live in Europe and was really pleased with how Hannah worked with me to figure out the best shipping option, and sent me updates on the progress. Highly recommend the soul-seat and the company itself.
I love that I'm able to sit in many different positions through the day.
Easy setup and really great! It's a little hard to get on the chair
I have always had terrible posture and lots of neck/back pain and I found myself always sitting so awkwardly in regular office chairs --- either cross legged or with some complicated twisted posture --- just to not be in total agony. Cross-legged was always the best, but it doesn't work so great in a normal chair. So imagine my joy when I found a chair made expressly for this! The chair was easy to assemble and is high quality. I've been using for about a month and I actually find myself doing more of a kneeling posture vs. cross-legged because one of my legs will usually fall asleep in that posture. I think I might need to just play around with height adjustment. But kneeling or one leg up/one down are very comfortable and I find the chair encourages me to move around more. Overall very happy with purchase. Also, the company was very good about updates while I was waiting for the chair and it arrived within the stated time frame, even in the midst of COVID-19 disruptions.
I got this chair because for the last 4-5 years I've been sitting crossed-legged in a regular chair, finding it much more comfortable than the normal positions but my knees always felt squished by the arms of the chair. Little did I know that I'd find so many more comfortable positions using this chair! I work from home full time so I get to choose my own chair but I know if I ever go back to office work I'll have to bring this chair with me. Note: I did feel at first that my bottom was a little sore but after a week or two I don't notice a thing. So new users, bear with it for a little while and you'll get over it and get to enjoy the benefits!
I work as a software developer, and for my entire professional career I told anyone who would listen about how much I hate office chairs. Even the super expensive, extra ergonomic chairs were uncomfortable for me because I would always try to sit cross legged in them and switch positions throughout the day. This chair is exactly what I needed! I love all of the different positions that are possible and the ease of switching between them. I have actually found that I can focus and work for much longer periods of time with this chair. I am so happy I purchased this chair! I ordered a chair with wool fabric and the roller wheel legs. I love the wool, it looks really nice and I prefer the softer texture. I would also recommend the roller wheel legs if you will be using the chair at a desk. I find it really helpful to be able to get into position on the chair away from my desk and then roll myself closer. The bamboo legs are so beautiful, but they would be challenging to use with a desk for me.
I'd been looking for something like this for years. I have a Capisco HÅG that I've used for a decade and while it's good, I can't actually sit with both legs crossed. The Soul Seat is perfect as not only can I sit cross legged, I can kneel, I can sit with one leg curled up and the other free to reach my gaming pedals, and I can even squat. I got mine with a taller cylinder as I have a high desk that I often stand at and about the only catch with the new chair is that it did take a couple of days of practice to get used to climbing aboard. A month later I'm still in love
Here's what I loved: - There is an endless number of amazing seated positions. Deep squat, kneeling, criss cross, one leg up one leg down. It's easy to move around in, and I personally love having the extra room of the larger bottom. I ordered it in the grey fabric and it's beautiful. Exactly as pictured. I have never used another chair like it before! Really beautiful, high quality product. And no, you don't need a back. I use it with an electric adjustable desk as well so that rather than adjust the chair height, I can adjust the desk height, which is more precise and easier. - Also, it was super easy to put together (thank goodness because I hate long directions). Here's what could be even better: - The smaller seat, where your butt goes, is attached to the chair by inserting its skinny post into the main piston. It is my hunch that the skinny post design affects how weight is distributed. The result for me is that no matter how I adjust the seat up or down, regardless of the position, my butt gets sore from sitting in it after about 25 minutes. I think it would be fruitful if a future design would test a way to reduce the single point that absorbs all that weight. Sometimes I take that part of the chair out so I can just sit on it like a regular office chair, and that works. I am not overweight either in case anyone was wondering that. - The shipping time took almost 6 weeks. That is the same length of time I waited for a custom couch, so for a chair it just seems excessive. Realize it's a small business with limited resources, but making others aware in case they are in a rush for a chair in all this work from home madness with COVID-19.
The Soul Seat has been the perfect addition to my home office. Squatting, kneeling, sitting cross-legged, and encouraging frequent movement/repositioning have all helped me feel less constrained while working!
I am more than a few years older than "young and flexible" but I love my Soul Seat. Yes, various parts fall asleep if I sit in one position too long, but that's the whole point....keep moving and sit in lots of different positions to keep things as young and flexible as possible!
My Soul Seat pairs wonderfully with my adjustable stand/sit desk, giving me a wide variety of different configurations so that I'm not in a single position for long. I wonder if I'm too large/tall for this chair? I'm female, 5'8", size 10. Not plus size or extremely tall, but sometimes I wish for more chair—more base and especially more perch. I hang off the perch quite a bit and often have to do a lot of adjusting to get my rear in the perfect position. My legs also fall asleep when I sit cross-legged on it. That's been a shocker for me! I've never had my legs fall asleep before in cross-legged position. There's something about the small perch and the pressure it's exerting on my rear that puts my legs to sleep. (?) So I tend to sit with my legs folded under themselves. That ends up being the most comfortable position for the Soul Seat. I also like the squatting position, but I can't get my desk at the right height to get my legs under the desk and still have the work top at the right level for typing. I don't use the Soul Seat as much as I thought (frequency or duration) due to my legs falling asleep. That's disappointing, for sure. But I don't regret my decision to buy the chair. I still like having it around and use it daily.
This is the chair I have been looking for my entire professional life! The second I heard Pack on Katy Bowman I knew I wanted to try this chair, and it has not disappointed. Thank you!
I was always adjusting my position in a normal office chair, tucking one leg under my seat because that was always more comfortable for me. This chair is perfect -- there are so many comfortable ways to sit, I absolutely love it!
I'm a martial artist and sitting in chairs all day kills my hips. I had a friend post a picture of this chair on FB and after a little research I was able to find SoulSeat. I thought it was a bit pricey but figured I'd try it. WOW, it has helped my IT Band soooooo much. It also makes it so that my hips are getting locked up and has reduced the amount of stretching I need to do for class. The construction and materials are great. I have recommended it to everyone I know who does MA or not.
I was looking for a chair with large space to sit crossed legged. This chair is one of the 3 options I could find, there really is not many competitor to this chair. The only other option that comes close is the Sukhasana chair, with a price tag double this one. This chair fits the bill. I really like the keeling and deep squat sitting on the chair, it is unique for those 2 position, and that is a big plus! You can even just sit regular on it, by adjusting the seat higher as a small backrest. The only issue I have with it is that you will not be comfortable with a basic crossed-legged position, you have to go half-lotus (or full lotus if you are one of thooose people). Its not a huge deal, because with the elevated seat, half lotus is quite easy. Also, since there is no backrest, not even a minimalist one, you have to sitting in lotus with a very active posture, you cannot relax much at all. Which might be what you are looking for. Overall good product and good experience with the company.
I am your typical office employee who is confined to a desk with monitors for the work day. I used to have a standing desk, and that worked for the job I had where I moved around too much to sit. But after joining the software world, I found that standing for extended stretches actually hurt my ability to concentrate. It was a very reluctant transition to sitting, one that actually gave my hips more pain. I tried to use a medicine ball, but even that wasn't enough to occupy my joints. To help with the hip pain I began training myself out of sitting with one leg crossed over the other. But I found that all i wanted to do was stretch and no chair available to me would let me do that, I found that sitting in a lotus position was the one position I wanted to be in. After some googling, I found the Soul Seat. A few weeks of thought and financial consideration, I decided to pull the trigger, if anything, I could try it for 30 days. Well, after the first day I was a Soul Seat convert. Soul Seat is incredible because it's a seat that you can move in. there isn't the one single position we all know and dread, there are dozens that you can easily shift into. There are positions that can help stretch out anything that is in pain or is tight, but can also just be a comfortable seat where you are free to sit as you desire. I can't say this is a seat for everyone, but this is certainly the seat for me. I love my Soul Seat.
As a martial artist I pay a lot of attention to my posture and flexibility. I would hate for the training I do to get undone by hours of sitting at my office. I do have a motorized standing desk but personally I find that for the heavy thinking sort of work I do it does help me to sit down. I love the Soulseat because I could remove the top insert entirely and just use it as a platform to sit in seiza, fudosa, full squat, and other beneficial positions during the day. I appreciate that I can keep my back straight throughout the day and passively work on my ankle and hip flexibility.
I love my chair and recommend it to all my coworkers!
